Spring is here, Summer's on the way!
What a wonderful school year. Many of our gophers have set new sports records and won medals and trophies. Many of our gophers have made great academic accomplishments as well. We have all made lots of good memories this year.
The Nurse’s office has been very busy with programs this second semester. The NMHC dental crew came back and applied cavity-fighting fluoride varnish to many of our elementary students. They will return in the fall for next year’s FREE dental exam and fluoride varnishing program. They will also bring their Dental Van back to help our students get the dental work they need without having to miss school.
We had a great Preschool Round-Up screening day with some of our elementary teachers to get to know 14 of the awesome kids who will be going to preschool with us in the fall. We can’t wait for them to be gophers with us next year! Lisa McClaran RN and the nurses from the Sullivan County Health Department provided the required tetanus and meningococcal vaccinations to many of our 6th, 7th and 11th graders to help prepare them for 8th and 12th grades.
Unfortunately, this flu season we have had many students and teachers miss school with the flu, strep throat, or other sicknesses. “Flu Season” happens every late fall to early spring, and more people get sick during that time than during the rest of the year. Gophers suffering from environmental allergies have had a rough winter AND spring as well. No matter the reason, help keep your immune system in peak performance by drinking lots of fluids, getting plenty of exercise and rest, eating healthy, and washing your hands often every day.
With just thirteen days left in the 2024-2025 school year, we wish our graduating senior class of 2025 good luck with their future plans. The rest of us will look forward to a great summer off and seeing everyone back here in August for the next school year.
We work hard! We play hard! We are GC! Beth Beyer, RN
